There've been too many throughout Vena's long existence who've been put off by how forward he often is. He's only subtle when he feels it's absolutely necessary. Otherwise, he doesn't much see the point in it. Especially when subtlety often stands between him and what he wants. Unnecessary steps between him and his goal, whether it be information or something far more physical. So Zhiyi's reaction to it (or more like a lack of) puts them in Vena's good graces. For now, at least. Everyone knows what a fickle thing Vena can be.

"Several of your kind thought to show up tonight." Vena vaguely gestures off to some other side of the house. "There are humans who'll make themselves available to you should you so choose." A glimpse into his own view of humanity. They are here as food and servants.
